Japan Day 38: Complimentary Corn

Today, I was tried the infamous green tea Kit Kat. It was a lot more potent than I expected, and tasted really good (creamy and sweet)! Definitely a must-try since it is not as available in America.
For lunch, we interviewed some Japanese women about their careers and lives. They came from varied backgrounds, and it was really interesting to speak with them and glimpse into a typical female's lifestyle in Japan. Their English was also impeccable! Later, the program had a workshop about gender roles, and there were many findings about what the students observed in daily Japanese life. Many mentioned how Japanese women seemed a lot more dressed down than men, and perhaps that is because there are less women in the work force. There also seems to be more public drunkenness in Japan (especially among men), though the drunks are not as aggressive as in the U.S. I though the conversation was very thought-provoking, and I am looking forward to the final presentations that the students will be making at the end of the program! After work, we went back to our regular soba place, and Kikui-san gave us some melon and cob corn as service! We thought it was very funny that we received corn after we finished our meal, and we carried the steaming corn all the way back to the Olympics Center!
